i just had to post this quote from a box on the first study article - "jehovah reveals his glory to humble ones".
august 1st 2004.. strong yet humble.
at the 1919 cedar point, ohio, usa, convention of the bible students (known today as jehovah's witnesses), 50-year-old j f rutherford, who was then overseeing the work, gladly volunteered as a bellhop, carying luggage and escorting conventioners to their rooms.
Rutherford was nothing but a shyster lawyer.

rr wrote he gave rutherford 1500.00 and the judge went to los angelos where he set up a practice.
russell knew he was trouble.. .

According to the Bible Students they said:
Pastor Russell?s will had designated a five-member Editorial Committee: Wm. E. Page, Wm. E. VanAmburgh, H. Clay Rockwell, E. W. Brenneisen, F. H. Robison. Then, ?The names of the five whom I suggest as possibly amongst the most suitable from which to fill vacancies in the Editorial Committee are as follows: A. E. Burgess, Robert Hirsh, Isaac Hoskins, Geo. H. Fisher (Scranton), J. F. Rutherford, Dr. John Edgar.? The declaration of ?five? names, followed by six names, could possibly be because John Edgar (of Scotland) had died (although seemingly RutherĀford?s name should have appeared after Edgar?s if that were an added codicil), or because as keeper of the will, he had added his own name. (It is said that Rutherford denied all requests to see the will.) Rutherford added himself to the Editorial Committee.
No wonder growing up we were told these were the Evil Slave class and not to talk to them because the WT did not want you to hear the other side of the story. Bunch of bleeping hypocrates.

i may be late in seeing this special on the history channel, but did anyone else see this show.
it was about books being banned from the bible that further explains events that may or may not have happened the way it is written in the bible.
this show peaked my curiousity and i went to the library and found the book who wrote the bible?
It still comes down to having blind faith that this is the word of God. Like I said, out side of the bible, there is no evidence that this is an inspired book. If it is so inspired, why is there thousands of so called Christian religion that all interpret the book differently?

i am a 20 year old baptized wittness who for the past year has been trying to do some serious reserach on all the things i have been made to believe in the wt society.it only makes sense that my research should not only include those in the wt publications and so therefore i need some help:
1. what is everyone's thoughts on society not allowing brothers to wear beards?
i read somewhere that russel(society's first prez) had a beard and the second pres( russel) wanted to completely dissassosiate anything having to do with russel and so therefore outlawed against them.
Yeah Russel had a beard.
As far as Jesus not having a beard, the JW would have you believe he didn't in some of their earlier publications. Though the later ones do show him with a beard but a neat and clean cut one. Makes you wonder when he was on the road walking for days how he could have had time to go to the barbers.

Everything you need is from Gen.-Rev.
Again, why are we supposed to believe this is God's word? I could say here that what I say is inspired of God and you cannot contradict me. Does that make what I said from God? You may believe otherwise but 2000 years form now who is to say it is not inspired? I mean the Mormons believe their book of Mormon, that was written by Joseph Smith is inspired. On this premise, do we have any right to say otherwise? I have not being proven that the bible is inspired from God because what it ultimately comes down to is following something full of myths and tales, with blind faith.

According to the book "The Jesus Mysteries" they have proven through computer analyses that the later latter that have been attributed to Paul were not written by the same author as the earlier letters by Paul. Some of his latter letters were not added to the Canon until the 2nd or 3rd century. It all comes down to who was the "God" that decided what was inspired scriptures and what was not. It is a good book but that is all it is. It is no more inspired than any other book.

Double Edge,
Thanks, Just took a look at the link you posted. Did you read what it said at the top of the page?
"Actually, these are not the lost books of the Bible. We have all that God has ordained for us. A lot of people think the Bible isn't trustworthy and that many books were removed from it. That isn't the case. But, there are many ancient books around when the Bible was written. Here are many of them. "
What a load of crap. "Why we have all we need, no sense in reading any more." No wonder we had 1500 years of a Christian dark age with thinking like this. Yet millions buy into this shallow thinking.

Robdar,
Don't you know we are all Godless, piece of garabage, sinners not worthy of living??

Personally I am tired of hearing just one side of the Christian issue. The bottom line is that most Orthodox Christians will not deviate from what is said in the "bible". There were hundreds of books written about the life and sayings of Jesus, so who were the Gods that determined that these are the books we will say are inspired and these are the ones that are not inspired? I have now read books that give the other side of the story and it portrays the early Christian movement in a different light. Believe it or not but I would prefer to hear both sides of an issue and make my own mind up about it and not be clouded by preconceived ideas. Another good book to read is Elaine Pagels, "The Gnostic Gospels".

i saw this while browsing through some newsgroups.
i used to like his show on pbs when it was on.
i bought a few of his cookbooks and have (successfully) made a dish or two from them.
I recall when his show was on it was one of the most interesting cooking shows because he would also give you a bit of a history on the different foods and their culture. I do recall saying to my ex how I thought the way he would act with his his young assistant chief It seemed that he was a little to friendly with him. Kind of gave me the creeps. Then shortly after when his show was mysteriously taken off the air, I found out he was accused of being a pedophile.
